Adverbs
What is an adverb?
An adverb is a word that tells us more about a verb. It "qualifies" or "modifies" a verb (The man ran quickly). In the following examples, the adverb is in bold and the verb that it modifies is in italics.
John speaks loudly. (How does John speak?)
Afterwards she smoked a cigarette. (When did she smoke?)
Mary lives locally. (Where does Mary live?)
Modify an adjective:
(He is really handsome. (How handsome is he
That was extremely kind of you
Modify another adverb:
(She drives incredibly slowly. (How slowly does she drive
He drives extremely fast

قیدها
قید کلمه ایست که اطلاعات بیشتری از فعل به ما میدهد. قیدها به فعل کیفیت میبخشند یا آنرا تغییر میدهند. مانند آن مرد به سرعت می دود. در مثالهای زیر قید با حالت پر رنگ و فعلی که قید آنرا تغییر میدهد به حالت کج نوشته شده است.
توضیح قید: جان چگونه صحبت میکند؟ - (با صدای) بلند

چه زمانی او سیگار کشید؟ -بعدا
Mary lives locally. (Where does Mary live?)
مری کجا زندگی میکند؟ -محلی
اما قیدها میتوانند صفت ها را نیز تغییر دهند. برای مثال تارا واقعا زیباست Tara is really beautiful. یا حتی قید های دیگر را نیز میتوانند تغییر دهند. آن به خوبی/ خیلی خوب کار میکند. It works very well. به مثالهای زیر توجه کنید.
تغییر دادن یک صفت:
(He is really handsome. (How handsome is he
او واقعا خوشتیپ است (چقدر خوشتیپ است)
That was extremely kind of you
خیلی لطف شماست.
تغییر دادن قیدهای دیگر:
(She drives incredibly slowly. (How slowly does she drive
او به طرز باور نکردنی آرام رانندگی میکند. (چقدر آرام رانندگی میکند)
He drives extremely fast
او به شدت سریع رانندگی میکند.
